On May 19th, BYP Network will be bringing a hybrid version of its renowned annual BYP Leadership Conference to New York for the very first time! Knowledge is Power will be the focus of the critical BYP Leadership Conference’s fourth iteration, which was first held in London last October during UK Black History Month. The US summit will additionally cover topics such as how to succeed in corporate America, how to change the perception of Black people, how to recession-proof oneself and develop internationally, and how to collaborate across national boundaries.

Pioneering speakers announced for the agenda

Attendees can expect to hear from a variety of motivational and captivating speakers and meet hundreds of other community members with a variety of degrees of expertise. Among the long list of exciting speakers will be Caryn Campbell, the executive director of the Misty Copeland foundation, a role in which she was appointed January of this year. The De Laurentis Company and Paramount Pictures were where Campbell began her career in the film business. She has also performed a variety of production duties for Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks on his monumental Malcolm X and Girl 6 films.

Another notable speaker that attendees can expect to hear from is Gary Stewart, the Managing Director of the Techstars New York City Accelerator powered by J.P. Morgan. He is a former Forbes contributor, a serial entrepreneur with VC backing, an early-stage investor with experience managing start-up portfolios worth $1.6 billion, a professor who has taught entrepreneurship at highly reputable universities. He is dedicated to ensuring that underrepresented and disregarded innovators have access to the social and financial resources they deserve and need.

We will also be having James Francis who has led Paradigm, a Woman & Minority Business Enterprise offering innovative equity strategies based on data science specifically for institutional investors. He has taken it from a start-up idea to the top company in the field of data-driven investing by combining his expertise in technology and consulting to develop a brand-new method of alpha discovery and portfolio management. Mr. Francis is in charge of managing the creation of Paradigm and all of its plans.

Organizational psychologist, executive coach, and leadership consultant Shelomi Gomes will be speaking at the conference too. Her academic background, familiarity with contemporary leadership techniques, multicultural expertise, and unique, evidence-based techniques provide clients an advantage in their quest to become more inspiring, successful leaders in a constantly evolving hybrid work environment.

Another prominent name in the long list of confirmed speakers is Dee McDougal, who has been appointed the new US Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) for Capco, the global management and technology consultancy. McDougal has an extensive and impressive resume as she joins Capco from Pacific Western Bank, where she served as Senior Vice President of D&I. She oversaw PWB’s corporate diversity and inclusion strategy in that capacity and created engagement and education initiatives for both internal and external stakeholders.

Dee participates in a number of outside professional committees and advisory organizations, such as the North Carolina Black Entrepreneurship Council’s Executive Committee and the American Bankers Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Group and Professional Development Council. She also participates in the Small Business Policy Task Force of the N.C. Rural Centre.
