Diversity and inclusion are critical to unlocking the full potential of businesses and society as a whole. However Black individuals continue to encounter significant barriers in their career advancement. For instance, studies show that Black graduates in the UK are from two to three times as likely to be unemployed compared to their white counterparts. The representation of Black professionals in leadership positions across various industries also remains disproportionately low at less than 2%, highlighting the need for targeted support and opportunities.
The BYP Careers Fest is a vital event for aspiring Black professionals, recent graduates, and seasoned experts to connect with some of the most prominent companies in various industries. These companies include KPMG, Bank of America, UBS, Unilever, Croud, Capco, Cisco, Burges-Salmon, Greene King, Historic England, Dojo, Sainsbury’s, Fitch Group and many more.
By facilitating direct engagement with representatives from these leading corporations, attendees will gain invaluable insights into company cultures, success stories, career paths, how to overcome obstacles, and hundreds of available job opportunities, fostering a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
The Careers Fest aims to serve as a platform for Black individuals to showcase their talents, connect with industry leaders and hundreds of peers, and access opportunities that may have been previously inaccessible.
The programme has been designed specifically with the unique experiences and perspectives of Black professionals in mind, empowering them to present their skills effectively and showcase their true potential.
“We are committed to empowering young Black students and mid-to-senior professionals, providing them with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive in their careers,” said Kike Oniwinde Agoro, the CEO and Founder of BYP Network. “The Careers Fest represents our dedication to breaking down barriers, increasing representation, and fostering an inclusive workforce that recognises and values diversity.”
The Careers Fest will be held at the prestigious Business Design Centre in Angel, known for its spacious and modern facilities. The venue’s convenient location and excellent transport links make it easily accessible to attendees from across the city and beyond.
