Our partner, AEG Europe, is famous for being the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company. Their extensive portfolio of best-in-class venues include the likes of The O2 and Eventim Apollo in London, as well as renowned music festivals such as American Express presents BST Hyde Park and Luno presents All Points East. As part of their journey to provide employees with a greater voice to continuously improve their workplace, they introduced 8 Employee Network Groups that support their core values, one of which is embRACE.

embRACE was formed in 2021 with a mission to; “Achieve empowerment, recognition and equal representation across all aspects of AEG Europe”. During its tenure, embRACE has been involved in several initiatives to enable and support people from all backgrounds. These include:

  • Annual takeover during BHM to celebrate artists, films and employees from the black community, as well as sharing content and hosting speakers to provide unique education opportunities for employees.
  • Following the racism suffered by English players after the Euros final, embRACE held a listening session to highlight the lived experience of employees to the wider AEG team.
  • To recognise other cultural celebrations, embRACE introduced a calendar of diverse events. Details of these events are shared in AEG’s internal newsletter. AEG Europe celebrates these by enjoying culinary dishes from the different communities represented in its offices.
  • embRACE partnered with the People & Culture team as they championed the anonymity of applications during the recruitment process in order to remove unconscious bias and make the process more equitable.

embRACE continues to partner with the business on new ideas and is currently focusing on a range of initiatives. For example:

  • Partnering with the People & Culture team on a refreshed internal promotions process to ensure equity and remove all bias.
  • Partnering with a charity to implement a programme which creates roles for NEETs (not in education, employment or training).
  • Hosting an in-person event with a diverse panel of speakers to share different lived experiences within AEG Europe and discuss ways we can continue to evolve and change.

In addition to embRACE, their other Employee Network Groups include Pride, Women, Family and Wellbeing.
