Meet Your Host
Gabriella Otim-Oyet

Gabriella is a Project Manager working in the NHS to improve patient care and working processes. She studied BSc Biomedical Science at the undergrad level before embarking upon the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme, completing placements to develop knowledge of operational and strategic leadership. She has particular interest in system working, strategic focus and mental health; and is currently in post as a Service Development Project Manager at Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust. Gabriella is the lead for the Black Young Professionals Healthcare Network, hosting monthly webinars centred on current affairs, career development and networking. Through her role with BYP she aims to build a community of people with diverse roles within healthcare for the purposes of peer support, shared learning and professional development. She is dedicated to working with others to achieve equity within healthcare for patients served and colleagues working in the system.
Dr Thelma Tembo

Thelma is a NHS General Practitioner working in Manchester. She studied Medicine then completed her foundation and GP training. With an additional qualification in International Health, Thelma has an interest in bridging health care inequalities in marginalised populations in the UK. She is passionate about medical education as part of her role of mentoring medical students, GP trainees and working as a General Medical Council associate. She is also the co-Chief Activator for BY-Peers Healthcare working alongside Gabriella in empowering career progression in ethnic minorities. Through this role with BYP she aims to meet other professionals with diverse roles within healthcare and work together to overcome systemic challenges.
